“Art comes from consciousness, computers will never have that” – Interview with Guillermo Izquierdo (Angelus Apatrida)

Author Hernan Osuna - 15.11.2023

Spanish thrash metallers Angelus Apatrida released their killer new album “Aftermath” on October 20 via Century Media Records. The Albacete-based outfit sounds heavier, edgier and darker on the ten-track LP, which features an interesting cast of guest appearances including Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, vocals), Pablo García (Warcry, guitars), Todd La Torre (Queensrÿche, vocals) and rap star Sho-Hai (vocals).

The quartet made up of frontman and guitarist Guillermo Izquierdo, bassist Jose Izquierdo, drummer Victor Valera and guitarist David Alvarez, take nothing for granted as they push the boundaries of what’s possible to deliver distinctive, riff-driven headbangers with socially conscious lyrics. This Spanish group is a powerful thrash bomb and “Aftermath” proves that.

Before the band embarked on their European tour, we sat down with Guillermo Izquierdo to talk about the new album, their career, using AI in music, the pros and cons of touring and much more. Check the interview below.
