Anthrax will record the entirety of their upcoming performance in Brooklyn, NY

Anthrax has announced a small-scale headline performance at Brooklyn, New York’s Saint Vitus Bar, as per theprp. At the venue’s grand reopening on September 4th, thrash metal luminaries will be onstage and recording the entire set. The sale of tickets is scheduled to begin tomorrow, August 28. Anthrax‘s first new studio album in ten years, “Cursum Perficio,” will be released on September 18th, as most fans should already be aware.

Bassist Dan Lilker and rhythm guitarist Scott Ian founded the New York City-based American heavy metal group Anthrax in 1981. Together with Metallica, Megadeth, and Slayer, the band is regarded as one of the pioneers of the 1980s thrash metal scene and one of the “Big Four” of the genre. Along with Overkill and Nuclear Assault, they were among the earliest thrash metal bands to come out of the East Coast. Scott Ian, drummer Charlie Benante, bassist Frank Bello, singer Joey Belladonna, and lead guitarist Jonathan Donais make up the band’s current lineup. Ian is the only member of Anthrax that has remained consistent throughout the band’s several lineup changes.

The only two members of Anthrax to participate on every record are Ian and Benante, who took over for former drummer Greg D’Angelo in 1983. Bello joined the group in 1984, taking Lilker’s place. Anthrax released their first album, “Fistful of Metal” (1984), with singer Neil Turbin after going through several different personnel. Later that year, Joey Belladonna took Turbin’s place, stabilising the band’s lineup. “Among the Living” (1987), Anthrax‘s third album and the band’s first major hit, is regarded as one of the best thrash metal albums.
