What an unfortunate turn of the events for the metalheads that are living in Costa Rica at the moment. The fans of Pestilence are receiving some news that their show is also canceled due to entry documents required, just like it happened to 1349. Here’s the statement of the band:
Official Statement from Pestilence Regarding Costa Rica Show
To our fans in Costa Rica,
We want to sincerely thank you for your ongoing support and passion. We know that many of you were looking forward to our performance, and we deeply regret that we could not play as planned.
Unfortunately, upon our arrival we discovered that the necessary legal permits and licenses required for international artists to perform in Costa Rica had not been properly arranged by the local promoters. Instead, we were asked to enter the country under false pretenses, claiming we were only there as tourists. Later, we were presented with documents that were not authentic.
As a professional band, we must always respect the laws of the countries we visit. Performing without the correct license could have resulted in serious consequences: fines, deportation, or even being banned from returning to Costa Rica for years. This is a risk we cannot take—not only for ourselves, but also for our fans, who deserve safe, legitimate, and properly organized events.
We understand the disappointment this has caused, and we share in that disappointment. Please know that the decision not to perform was not taken lightly, but it was the only responsible choice under the circumstances.
Our commitment to our fans is unwavering, and we truly hope to return to Costa Rica in the future under the right conditions, with reliable promoters and all legal requirements fully secured.
Thank you for your understanding and for always standing by us.
With respect,
PESTILENCE
