Release Athens, the biggest music festival in Greece, have unveiled the first wave of artists for its 7th edition. Megadeth, Massive Attack, Duran Duran, The Offspring, The Smile, Black Pumas, Judas Priest, and Bruce Dickinson are some of the headliners that will perform at Release Athens 2024, over the course of 10 festival days in June and July.

After last year’s huge success, which saw the likes of Arctic Monkeys, Rosalía, The Prodigy, Wu-Tang Clan, Nightwish, Helloween, Parkway Drive, Siouxsie, Interpol, Central Cee and many more, headline the 10-day festival, the first acts for its forthcoming edition have already been announced.

The Offspring, one of the most successful punk rock bands of all time, will open the festival on June 9, followed by a special double headline bill on June 20 featuring the Britpop legends, Pulp, and one of the most important bands of recent years, The Smile, led by Radiohead’s Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood. Thievery Corporation and Black Pumas will also co-headline on July 9, while Massive Attack, the seminal Bristol band that defined a whole era in contemporary music, will headline on July 17.

Duran Duran are the latest addition to the lineup. The iconic pop band, recently inducted to The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, will take the stage one day later, on July 18.

Furthermore, Release Athens 2024 will also host a string of heavy metal shows, headlined by some of the biggest acts in the history of the genre. First of all, Dave Mustaine’s Megadeth will bring their electrifying Crush The World Tour to Greece, along with the progressive / power metal legends from Germany, Blind Guardian, on June 14.

Metal gods, Judas Priest, and Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson will co-headline about a month later, on July 21, with the influential German band, Accept, joining them in one of the top metal bills of the year. Extreme metal titans Behemoth will headline the final day of Release Athens 2024, along with Testament and Pestilence.

The second wave of artists will be announced in the coming weeks. You can visit www.releaseathens.gr for all the information and latest updates from the festival.
