Angra announce tour celebrating 30 years of “Holy Land”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 24.3.2026

Angra, a Brazilian progressive power metal band, announced their return to commemorate a significant milestone nearly two years after announcing their hiatus, as per MetalSucks. After all, their sophomore album “Holy Land” will celebrate its 30th anniversary in 2026. In order to allow different band members to focus on other personal and professional endeavors, Angra first took a break, or what they called a “sabbatical period.” They did state immediately away that this would only last temporarily and that they would return when the time was appropriate.

Today we celebrate three decades of one of the most important chapters in our history… and with it, we’re announcing something special: Angra is returning to the stage!

After a period of pause, reflection, and reconnecting with our roots, we’ll be back in the second half of the year for a tour dedicated to Holy Land — an album that continues to live on through the music, the stages, and every fan who has been part of this journey.

More than revisiting a classic, this tour will be a reunion with our roots, our essence, and with all of you who have walked this path with us for so many years.

The journey continues.

See you on the road.

Former Viper singer Andre Matos, guitarists Rafael Bittencourt and André Linhares, and music entrepreneur Antônio “Toninho” Pirani founded Angra in November 1991. Bassist André Lichewitz, who was soon replaced by Luis Mariutti, and drummer Marco Antunes, a longtime bandmate of Bittencourt’s, joined the trio. In the early days of the band, Bittencourt and Matos were the main songwriters. Linhares departed the band early in 1992, and André Hernandes took his position. Hernandes left the band the same year, and Kiko Loureiro took his place. “Reaching Horizons”, Angra‘s debut demo recording, was recorded with Loureiro on the lineup and published by the German label Limb Music in 1993.
