Alissa White-Gluz releases a new statement

After splitting from Arch Enemy over the weekend, Alissa White-Gluz has commented on the support she has gotten on social media, as reported by theprp. This past Sunday, November 23, she announced that she was leaving the Swedish melodic death metal masters. She joined the band in 2014, taking Angela Gossow’s place. Alissa‘s departure from the group coincided with the release of “The Room Where She Died,” her new solo single. She made a social media message a few days after that major revelation.

Wow.

I am blown away by the outpouring of love and support I have received over the past few days. Times of transition can be especially intense for the mind, body and heart. I don’t take any of this lightly. But, the overwhelmingly positive response to “The Room Where She Died” has given me so much renewed energy and clarity about who I am as an artist and why I love singing and creating music.

I am proud of the body of work I have been building for decades. After so many years of honing my skills as a vocalist, song-writer and performer; absorbing and learning with every show, every album, every video and every meet & greet, I am excited to let my solo work stand on its own.

After finishing her debut album in 2022, Alissa has been pursuing her solo career for a number of years. You can rule out Johan Liiva, the band’s original vocalist, taking her place in Arch Enemy. The latter acknowledged on social media that he had admired Alissa in that capacity and that he would not be returning to the saddle. Interestingly, Alissa may be seen playing Michael Amott’s distinctive guitar in the aforementioned video for her new single.
