Alex Van Halen is recording his upcoming album

Alex Van Halen announced that he is preparing to commence recording a new album in collaboration with Toto guitarist Steve Lukather, as per Blabbermouth. This information was disclosed during an interview with Iron Maiden’s Nicko McBrain on the “Metal Sticks” podcast.

I’m getting ready to do this record with Lukather and a couple of other people. It should be exciting.

In a previous statement from March, Lukather dismissed rumors suggesting his involvement as a guitarist on a forthcoming Van Halen album.

Alex Van Halen, the elder sibling of Eddie Van Halen, is the co-founder and drummer of the renowned hard rock ensemble known as Van Halen. Although he did not attain the same level of fame as his brother Eddie, Alex is widely recognized as a significant contributor to the band’s enduring success.

Eddie Van Halen is regarded as one of the most influential and talented rock guitarists of the twentieth century. His exceptional musicianship has left a lasting impact on the genre.

Born Alexander Arthur Van Halen on May 8, 1953, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, Alex spent his formative years in Nijmegen after the family relocated. His father, Jan Van Halen, born in 1920, was an accomplished saxophonist and clarinetist, while his mother, Eugenia Beers, was born in Indonesia in 1914.

The Van Halen family emigrated to the United States in 1962, establishing residence near relatives in the Los Angeles area. Both Alex and Eddie attended elementary school there and received early piano instruction, developing into skilled pianists, which laid the groundwork for their future musical endeavors.

The emergence of the British rock movement in the late 1960s profoundly influenced the Van Halen brothers. They shifted their focus from piano to percussion and string instruments. Initially, Alex Van Halen played guitar, while Eddie Van Halen was the drummer. Soon after, the brothers exchanged instruments, a strategic decision that proved beneficial. Alex demonstrated greater aptitude as a drummer than as a guitarist, whereas Eddie developed a reputation as an exceptional rock guitarist.
