Alcest announce European and UK tour in spring 2027

Alcest, a French post-black metal band, has announced a headline tour of Europe and the UK in early 2027, as per theprp. They will be accompanied on that journey by the self-described “ecstatic black metal” band Agriculture.

Alcest started off as a black metal solo project by Neige in 2000. After their first demo was released in 2001, members Aegnor and Argoth left the band, leaving Neige as the only member. From 2005 forward, Neige started fusing post-metal and shoegaze elements into the project’s sound. After eight years with Neige as its only full-time member, Winterhalter, a drummer from Les Discrets, joined Alcest in 2009. Alcest has put out three EPs and seven studio albums since its founding. Their third album “Kodama” (2016) went back to their previous blackgaze sound, but their fourth album, “Shelter” (2014), signalled a change toward a clearly shoegaze sound. Many people believe that Alcest, especially with their 2005 EP “Le secret”, invented the blackgaze/post-black metal genre.
