Swedish metalcore veterans Adept have returned in full force with their new single “Parting Ways”, taken from their long-awaited fifth studio album “Blood Covenant”, set for release on October 24th via Napalm Records. Marking a bold new era after nearly a decade of silence, the new album captures the band at their most intense, dynamic, and emotionally resonant to date across eleven tightly crafted tracks.
Formed in the early 2000s in Trosa, Sweden, Adept helped shape the early European metalcore landscape, building a loyal following through passionate songwriting, high-octane shows, and raw emotional energy. Following their fiery comeback at Core Fest 2024 and a run of explosive festival performances, the band is now ready to redefine their sound with sharpened aggression, cinematic scope, and deeper lyrical weight.
While fans have already been treated to tracks like “Heaven” and “YOU”, Adept’s recent single “Ignore The Sun” offered a blistering display of Gothenburg-style melodic death metal riffing, massive breakdowns, and a mix of savage growls and soaring cleans reminiscent of the band’s early years. Now, “Parting Ways” shifts into darker, more cinematic territory, introducing eerie ambient textures and post-metal influences. It’s a track steeped in vulnerability, marrying restrained heaviness with moments of stark reflection.
Produced by Henrik Udd (Bring Me The Horizon, Architects) alongside guitarist Gustav Lithammer and vocalist Robert Ljung at Henrik Udd Recording, “Blood Covenant” boasts a sonically expansive yet emotionally intimate sound. Mixed by Henrik Udd and mastered by Thomas “Plec” Johansson (Soilwork, Dynazty) at The Panic Room, the album delivers immense weight and clarity without sacrificing an ounce of raw energy.
“Blood Covenant” promises a journey through both sonic aggression and emotional catharsis. The album opens with its brooding title track before diving into the guilt-ridden storm of “Heaven”, the defiant “Define Me”, and the heartbreak of “YOU”. Other standouts include the urgent and haunting “Time Is a Destroyer”, the industrial-laced menace of “Filthy Tongue”, and the crushingly beautiful finale “The Rapture of Dust”. Every song carries Adept’s signature balance of emotional intensity, unrelenting breakdowns, and melodic ambition.
