Legendary actor Jim Carrey is remembered by metal fans not only for his films, but also for the scene in Ace Ventura where Carrey is at a concert by death metal band Cannibal Corpse.
Now, in a recent interview with Fox 5, Carrey recalls another encounter he had in the metal world. Carrey recalled the first time he heard the music of metal band Pantera.
“The first time I ever heard Pantera, I was driving down to San Diego to check into a hotel before doing a concert at a theater. Me and my manager, Jim Miller at the time, we put Pantera on. I had never heard anything like it and it hit me on such a level of like, extreme stimulation that I just started laughing uncontrollably for the entire trek. Just like, nervously laughing, like ‘what is happening right now?”, he says.
There was an interesting coincidence when, while checking into the hotel, Carrey unexpectedly ended up meeting the musicians of Pantera.
“Then we went to check into the hotel and the guys behind us in the line to check into the hotel were Pantera … We turned around and went, ‘Are you kidding me? This is too weird, man.’ That’s my life.”
