Author Benedetta Baldin - 28.4.2026
“Reload,” Metallica‘s 1997 follow-up to their contentious transition into alternative rock, “Load,” is the next record from their legendary catalogue to be given the deluxe treatment, as per theprp. For almost all of their major albums, the thrash metal champions have been gradually going through the majority of their career over the years, assembling archival material and more into ornate box sets. This enlarged version of their seventh studio album, now titled “ReLoad,” will be released on June 26. Reuben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering recently remastered it, under the direction of Greg Fidelman, a regular Metallica collaborator. A stunning quantity of stuff is scheduled to be included in this bundle, as you might assume.
The Limited-Edition Deluxe Box Set is bursting with exclusives, including previously unreleased demos, rough mixes, live performances, on-air and television appearances, and much more. This one-time, numbered pressing features the remastered ReLoad album on 180g double vinyl, a ‘The Memory Remains‘ 7”, and ‘Live at Ministry of Sound ’97‘, a 140g triple album recorded live. The set’s 15 CDs range from the remastered album to never-before-released collections of riffs, demos & rough mixes, B-sides & rarities, and a wealth of live material.
Plus, its four DVDs are jam-packed with behind-the-scenes in-studio footage, live footage, on-air and television appearances, the band’s pop-up performance at the CoreStates Complex Parking Lot in Philadelphia, visits to Seoul, and more. Rounding out the box’s content are memorabilia, including a pack of 13 Rorschach Test cards, an 11”x17” ‘Gimme Fuel‘ poster, a sticker, a Pushead print, a 10-pack of guitar/bass picks, lyric sheets, three laminated tour passes, and a deluxe 128-page book with never-before-seen photos and stories from those who were there.
You can get your copy by clicking here, along with the live performance of “The Memory Remains” from the additional “Banned In Philly” DVD that comes with the collection.
