A Perfect Circle gave a sneak peek at their future plans in a brand-new, in-depth reflection on their 25th anniversary. That piece, which was just posted online at Revolver, features vocalist Maynard James Keenan and guitarist Billy Howerdel. Little is left unseen, from their first encounter to adjusting the band to Tool‘s numerous downtimes and legal issues to even discussing the departures of former members like drummer Josh Freese and bassist Paz Lenchantin. Aside from the nostalgic journey, however, Howerdel affirms that work has begun on the sequel to 2018’s “Eat the Elephant” from A Perfect Circle. Howerdel told Revolver this about his preparations so far for that potential fifth full-length album.
As I’m writing, sometimes I find myself [thinking], Wow, I really like this, but man, this is fucking sinister. I’m in a not-sleeping-much and self-discovery mode. When I’m writing music, I’ve been full night-terror, waking up — like, can’t let your mind rest thing. Billy Howerdel
I’m always writing. I’m writing with everyone… And if I can get the other guys [Tool] to dig in, there’s always that. I’m sure that Billy’s got a folder of fun stuff for me to dig through. It’s all about timing.
