Jack and Sharon Osbourne hosted the world premiere of “Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning” at Los Angeles’ Orpheum Theatre on October 14, and an official video recap of the star-studded purple-carpet event is now available to watch online.
The premiere brought together musicians whose careers have been shaped by Ozzy Osbourne and Black Sabbath. Among those attending were Sabbath members Geezer Butler and Bill Ward, Gene Simmons of KISS, Slash of Guns N’ Roses, Robert Trujillo of Metallica, Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers, Scott Ian of Anthrax, and Lzzy Hale and her Halestorm bandmates.
The guest list also included Dirk Verbeuren of Megadeth, guitarist Jake E. Lee, former Ozzy drummer Mike Bordin of Faith No More, Nuno Bettencourt of Extreme, former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Gilby Clarke, and David Ellefson, alongside members of Armored Saint.
The film documents Ozzy’s final live performance with the original Black Sabbath lineup — Ozzy Osbourne, guitarist Tony Iommi, Butler and Ward — at Villa Park in Birmingham, England, on July 5, 2025. The sold-out event also featured performances from artists including Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Tool, Slayer, Pantera, Gojira, Alice In Chains, Anthrax and Lamb Of God.
Hosted by Jason Momoa, the concert’s musical director was Tom Morello of Rage Against The Machine. The film combines the final performance with reflections from musicians inspired by Sabbath and behind-the-scenes footage from the event.
In comments included in the original report, Iommi described the concert as “a closure for the band” and “a good way to go out.” Butler called the response from the crowd “pure love,” while Ward said he felt completely at home. Morello described the show as unprecedented, noting the significance of Sabbath playing its farewell performance in Birmingham, where the band helped create heavy metal.
“Ozzy & Black Sabbath: Back To The Beginning” is scheduled for a global cinema event release beginning October 28, 2026. The film was directed for the screen by Ben Wainwright-Pearce, with the live concert directed by Tim Van Someren.
