An outreach initiative led by Holiday Kirk from The Nu Metal Agenda successfully established contact with Cameron Heacock, the vocalist of American Head Charge, who has been experiencing significant personal difficulties, as per theprp. He appeared last month on the Soft White Underbelly podcast, where he described his struggles with addiction that have resulted in homelessness in Los Angeles. Substance abuse and mental health issues have been recurring themes throughout American Head Charge‘s career, with Heacock’s personal challenges evident prior to the band’s disbandment in 2017.

Heacock faced multiple drug possession charges, including a notable arrest in April 2018 involving a van filled with stolen instruments and other items. In the interview, Heacock openly discussed his escalating heroin addiction, which had recently shifted to fentanyl. He also recounted his prolonged homelessness in Los Angeles and the circumstances that led to his current situation. During the conversation, Heacock expressed a desire to return to music and to restore his life.

Inspired by the interview, Holiday Kirk initiated the Something Beautiful Project, a name derived from the lyrics of the 2001 American Head Charge song “Just So You Know.” Being a resident of Los Angeles, Kirk set out to locate Heacock with the primary aim of offering substantial support, aiding his transition off the streets, and assisting him in achieving sobriety. An update issued on December 22nd, confirms that Heacock has been successfully located.
