Wytch Hazel announce new album “Lamentations” for July – new single “Woven” out now

British heavy rock outfit Wytch Hazel are gearing up to release their fifth studio album, “Wytch Hazel V: Lamentations”, on July 4 via Bad Omen Records. Produced once again by Ed Turner (known for his work with Purson and Heavy Trash), the album continues the band’s refreshingly earnest and uplifting musical path that’s been unfolding across earlier records like “Prelude”, “II: Sojourn”, “III: Pentecost”, and their latest, “IV: Sacrament”.

Frontman Colin Hendra approaches songwriting with a deep sense of purpose: “This isn’t just entertainment for me – I want Wytch Hazel to be a force for healing and good.” That sentiment runs strong through their brand-new single “Woven”, a track that blends heartfelt melancholy with solid, old-school riffing. “I wanted to write a heavy rock song about sensitivity and gentleness – not something you hear every day in this genre,” Hendra explains. The track’s guitar solo, interestingly enough, started as an improvisation but had to be painstakingly relearned, one note at a time.

The band will also hit the road this spring, opening for the legendary Michael Schenker (UFO) on his “My Years with UFO” tour. Hendra is clearly stoked: “Michael was a childhood hero of mine – it’s a huge honour to be part of this.” The tour rolls through Wolverhampton, Manchester, Glasgow, London and Bristol in May.

While much of modern metal leans into a darker, occult aesthetic, Wytch Hazel offers something different. Still, Hendra isn’t here to preach. “Music is for everyone – it’s a shared grace. And sometimes, God’s glory shines brightest through music that isn’t even made by Christians. Just look at Black Sabbath, for example!”
