WTF Capital of Metal brings a rock-solid lineup of Finland’s most promising metal artists to Tavastia & Semifinal on 22–23 May 2025. WTF Capital of Metal – Helsinki’s new showcase & conference event focusing on metal and alternative music, will showcase a total of eight Finnish artists to Tavastia and Semifinal as part of its evening program.
Chaoszine interviewed the participating bands and here is what Helsinki’s theatrical rockers St. Aurora had to say:
How does it feel to be part of this year’s WTF Capital of Metal showcase?
It is an honor and quite the privilege. We do not take any of this for granted, so being able to play for a professional audience as well as our devoted friends and fans in one of the most legendary venues in Finland, it’s obviously nothing short of amazing!
Have you played a similar showcase event before – in Finland or abroad? If so, how did it impact your journey?
We did play at Lost In Music in 2023. I’m sure it definetly had some impact on our general visibility as a band. However I don’t seem to recall any concrete advantages received from the show.
Do you feel Finland needs more events like WTF Capital of Metal to support the international growth of metal bands? Why or why not?
Absolutely! I bet there are tons of bands with potential to be big but lack the skills to put themselves out there. It’s difficult even on Finnish soil but to have recognition beyond our borders, that’s where things get real complicated.
How important is it for your band to reach international audiences, and what steps are you currently taking toward that goal?
For us, it’s mostly what we’re aiming for. I dare say that our music works for a marginal audience genre-wise so we think there’d be a larger chance to inspire and influence people abroad. The steps we have done so far, we have taken part on various competitions (e.g to be part of Cyberpunk 2077’s soundtrack, which we nailed btw) and have contacted promotion companies abroad for example ones in the UK.
Have you performed outside of Finland already – or do you have concrete plans to do so soon?
Well if you don’t count the show we did in “Merirock”, which was a cruise between Finland and Estonia, no we haven’t lol. No concrete plans at the moment. Focusing on new stuff to release right now.
What are your next goals as a band in the near future – new releases, tours, or label deals, perhaps?
We’re working hard to get the best record deal we can, and make our debut album as huge as possible. The stuff we’ve been recording is already a massive leap from what we’ve done before production and composition wise.
Anything else you’d like to say to the international metal community or industry professionals watching this showcase?
For you ppl coming to see us play; You’re in for a scary ass half an hour. Bring it. And for you not with us this evening; Get bored, for nothing is ever created if we don’t.
