Belgian occult-doom outfit Wolvennest have unveiled two new singles — “Décharné” and “The Shadow Of Your Side” — as previews for their forthcoming double album “Procession”. The album is slated for release on October 17, 2025 via Consouling Sounds
The first track released, “Décharné”, comes with a visualizer and clocks in at around seven and a half minutes. The band describes it as a gradual build, one that doesn’t hit you all at once, instead creeping forward until it surrounds the listener.
Meanwhile, “The Shadow Of Your Side” emerged as a later reveal. According to drummer Bram Moerenhout, the song almost didn’t make the album: after finishing his parts earlier than expected and working without a guide track, he trusted the demo and the final version surprised even the band.
This record also introduces a lineup change: it’s the first Wolvennest release to feature new bassist VaathV. The album continues their long-standing sonic blend of doom, black metal, psychedelia, and ambient textures.
In terms of structure, “Procession” is being framed as a more expansive, boundary-erasing work compared to earlier releases. Guitarist Corvus explains that whereas previous albums followed distinct side-A / side-B journeys, here the band wanted to erase boundaries altogether. Thematically, the album is described as a soundtrack of extinction, with the term procession stripped of religious associations.
