Wolfbrigade celebrates 30th anniversary with two digital releases

Swedish hardcore punk veterans Wolfbrigade are celebrating three decades in the game with not one, but two digital releases. The first, “Hostile Wasteland,” is an EP, and the other, “Kill to Live,” is a live-recorded album. Both are out now through Metal Blade Records, marking an important milestone for the band.

Although the group officially adopted the name Wolfbrigade in 1999, they began as Wolfpack in 1995 in Mariestad, Sweden. Over the years, their sound has fused driving d-beat aggression, punk’s raw edge, and touches of death metal grit. Because of their influences, which include Discharge, Motörhead, and Entombed, the band developed a sound that feels both timeless and instantly recognizable. Therefore, while their core identity has remained the same, they’ve continued to push the edges of their style.

“Hostile Wasteland” comes from archival material originally recorded in 2000 at Sunlight Studios when the band was still Wolfpack. During preparations for their anniversary, they rediscovered raw mixes on old DAT tapes and decided to digitize them for release. As a result, fans now get to hear early Wolfbrigade energy in its most authentic form.

Meanwhile, “Kill to Live” delivers live-style versions of Wolfbrigade and Wolfpack classics. Recorded in 2025 at their own Wolfden Studio, the album captures the band’s chemistry as five friends playing together in one room. This setup emphasizes their raw, unfiltered sound and gives a truer reflection of their live intensity.

The band saw these releases as a chance to finally present older material the way they always intended. Because some songs only appeared as bonus tracks or didn’t sound quite right in earlier versions, this anniversary felt like the perfect time to revisit them. Ultimately, Wolfbrigade wanted to clear out their vaults and share this history with fans as part of their 30-year celebration.

Both “Hostile Wasteland” and “Kill to Live” are available now in digital formats via Metal Blade’s website.
