Ukrainian black-metal act Windswept have unveiled “Investigation”, the second chapter and lead single from their upcoming full-length “The Devil’s Vertep”. The album draws its inspiration from the witch trials of 1753–1754 in Western Ukraine.
“Investigation” centers on the interrogation of Yevka Stanorykha, dramatizing the tension between forced confessions and inner resistance. Through jagged guitar work, volatile tempo changes, and Roman Sayenko’s rasped vocal delivery, the band recreate the psychological pressure of an 18th-century courtroom. Each repetition of motif in the track mirrors cycles of accusation, denial, and breakdown.
Windswept, founded in 2017 in Kharkiv, features members deeply involved in the Ukrainian black-metal underground and known for raw, atmospheric songwriting rooted in regional history.
The new album is due out December 12, 2025 through Season Of Mist, with “Investigation” now available for streaming below and through the band’s official channels. The album can be pre-ordered from here.
