When a musical vision becomes perfect reality – review of “Aeons” by Esprit D’Air

Author Benedetta Baldin - 24.10.2025

Since I was young I’ve always been fascinated by Japan’s culture, music and well, anime too. I spent countless hours watching Sailor Moon in italian, english and also japanese when I was studying the language. So it shouldn’t be surprising that I’m the one tasked with reviewing the new album “Aeons” by Esprit D’Air.

What a spectacular record has the japanese ensamble prepared for everyone to listen. I’m mesmerized by the atmosphere they create in each song, that are crafted almost to perfection. The production and mastering are wonderfully done, but as usual I would have loved a bit more space in the mixing for the bass. But that is only a minor flaw in an upcoming masterpiece!

Tracks like “Silver Leaf” and “Zetsubou no Hikari” reveal the versatility of the whole group, that do not need any guests to assemble a product of quality. Interesting also is their approach to the themes, with the album focusing on how time is both an ally for us, as well as an enemy. That’s a struggle that is relatable and makes the listening experience even more enjoyable.

Esprit D’Air give equal importance to music and lyrics as I said, and while Kai is fantastic on vocals too, Yusuke complements the rhytmic section with Takeshi on bass. Vincent Velazco handles the drums very efficiently, and is a certainty of quality as well as performance.

It’s really good for the band when I can’t find negative aspects in what I listen, and that is what happened with Esprit D’Air. “Aeons” is a masterpiece from start to finish, so mark your calendars for November 7th. You do not want to miss it! I’m already addicted to it, and I’m quite sure you’ll share the same sentiment…
