Sanguisugabogg started a North American tour in anticipation of the release of their upcoming album on October 10th, and it seems to have gone smoothly up to the second-to-last date. When the band went to pick up their compensation for their performance in Memphis, Tennessee on July 29, Sanguisugabogg says they were threatened with a gun. Sanguisugabogg describes an alleged event in which the general manager of the venue threatened to shoot the band if they didn’t leave the club after their show — without their payment — in a detailed statement that was uploaded to Instagram along with pictures of the accused. The venue itself had contacted the band to “clarify” what had transpired after they had published their initial statement about their run-in with Likens.
UPDATE
They’re telling us to take the post down and saying he didn’t say he was gonna shoot us that he told us “I have a gun…” that’s not true he told 5 of us he was going to shoot us and they’re saying we breached contract which is totally made up thing
People do not support Minglewood Hall / 1884 Lounge do not buy tickets to their shows and make everyone aware of this! Straight up f**k this place!
**WARNING**
BANDS, BOOKING AGENTS, MANAGERS DO NOT WORK FOR THIS CLOWN 🤡
This is Cory Likens and hopefully by tomorrow morning he doesn’t have a job! At our show in Memphis, TN tonight right after we got done playing we were told to come to his office to settle so our tm came up and was told that we breached our contract because our set ended earlier than what we were slotted (not a thing) and shoved him out of his office.
All the bands returned to just settle out and one of us just wanted to have a conversation as to what was going on and he popped his head out of the office to tell us to leave or he was going to SHOOT us. He ended up leaving as he was told to by our awesome team and luckily after a few hours someone way more professional and calmly mannered wrote a check. We’ve heard from people that he’s unwell and stuff to not this extreme but bands not getting paid has happened before.
Glad you made sure to leave without giving us your name I bet you felt really proud and safe but quick detective work like finding your f*ckboy haircut on google did the trick.
We also made sure to include pics of the green room cuz we saw the staff take a picture of the room when the table got knocked over… obviously it’s not broken
Awesome venue, awesome show, screw this dude!
Whether ‘casually’ or not, no band should be informed that the venue manager is armed. At first, Sanguisugabogg described it as a “awesome venue,” but in their update, they provide specifics on what the venue was allegedly telling the band behind the scenes. The band is now warning against endorsing the venue in any way.
