What is the best nu metal song of all time? Papa Roach weighed in

Papa Roach, who were part of the nu metal craze in the early 2000s, have a distinct viewpoint on the songs that defined the genre, as per MetalInjection. Each member of the band revealed their unique selections for the greatest nu metal song ever in a recently released video. Although frontman Jacoby Shaddix acknowledged some prejudice, he finally chose Limp Bizkit.

I’d be biased and say ‘Last Resort’ by Papa Roach, but I’ll give it to Limp Bizkit ‘Break Stuff’.

The early genre staple “Blind” by Korn was highlighted by bassist Tobin Esperance.

The first time I heard that opening intro to ‘Blind’ I was like, ‘Oh shit, this is something that I haven’t heard before.’

Deftones‘ “My Own Summer (Shove It)” was chosen by drummer Tony Palermo in recognition of the band’s opposition to the nu metal moniker.

I know Deftones don’t like to be coined as nu metal, but ‘Shove It’ is up there.

The legendary single “Last Resort” by his own band, which solidified Papa Roach‘s position in the genre, was proudly selected by guitarist Jerry Horton. The song was released in 2001, reached six times platinum, and in October 2023 it joined Spotify’s 1 billion streams club.
