Many interesting and historical acts walked on the grounds of Donington Park this year for Download Festival, and we caught Mikee Goodman of SikTh, where he shared with us a bit of his habits as singer, food and collaborations.

How are you doing today?

Mikee Goodman: I feel good, thank you, yeah. A little bit hot, but good, yeah.

It is quite hot. So, you’re playing at Download Festival, do you have any impressions from the festival grounds? Maybe you walked around a little bit?

Mikee Goodman: Yeah, it’s not as muddy as it used to be, it’s not a big pool of mud like it used to be, well, last year even, I went here last year just to hang out and see Pantera. But yeah, it seems like a good vibe, I’m hoping for the best, because we have a very, very hard clash, which I didn’t know about until one week ago.

If you had to collaborate, make a featuring with any other artist that are playing Download this year, which one would you choose?

Mikee Goodman: Personally, well, I think, I’m probably the biggest fan since growing up, between Korn and Sex Pistols. I can’t even think of other bands right now, but yeah, it’s between them. It would be great, they’re both legendary, great music.

For sure. Are there any food or drinks that you want to avoid before going on stage?

Mikee Goodman: Well, I don’t drink any spirits anymore, really. I definitely think my stomach can’t handle the vegan food too much, even though I really wanted to eat it, so I’m not. Yeah, I want to eat three hours in advance and then get ready.

What do you eat for breakfast? I’m a huge pancake lover, for example.

Mikee Goodman: It goes between either either granola, you know, like nutty granola, like that, with a few bits of oats and then coconut milk, or fried eggs on toast with beans. One or the other, it’s usually that, it’s usually not anything else. Or coconut drink and no breakfast.

Do you prefer coffee or tea?

Mikee Goodman: I only drink coffee now and then, but not a lot, but I used to drink tea non-stop. I actually had my teeth done, I had Invisalign done, and I’ll tell you the truth, right, I had Invisalign done on my teeth, and then, because you can’t drink coffee when you have this, with hot tea or anything, I just got out of the habit. It was a habit of mine to have ten cups of tea a day, and now I don’t have it anymore.

Have you ever been pulled over by a police car?

Mikee Goodman: I’ve been pulled over with my friends driving, but never myself driving, not so far, thankfully. We got pulled over in the bus, on a tour bus, in, where were we, I think it was Switzerland, and we had to get out, and they searched the entire bus, man, that was crazy. It turned out one of them was a metal fan, I started chatting to him about it, he wanted a photo and everything.

Do you sing in the shower?

Mikee Goodman: No, I’m usually getting in and out as quick as possible. I don’t often sing in the shower, no.

I wanted to play a little game with you, if that’s alright. So, since I’m Italian, let’s pretend that in five minutes somebody calls you and says you’ve inherited a pizza place in Rome. What would you do?

Mikee Goodman: Find out how much it’s worth. Try and sell it. Depending if I had accommodation up the top as well, it could be a good place to go. Have a restaurant and hotel as well, that’s good.

Thank you very much for taking the time to speak to me. Is there anything else you’d like to add to our readers?

Mikee Goodman: We’re doing a headline tour, we’re playing the full “Death of a Dead Day” in February. And that’s the next thing for us, so hopefully you can check that out. Thanks a lot.
