“We will definitely do something next year” – Pete Townshend reveals The Who’s plans for 2025

The Who are not yet done. Pete Townshend confirmed that he and Roger Daltrey will collaborate once more in 2025, following a year that was largely spent apart. The last time they toured together was in 2023, when The Who added strings to their performances. Any upcoming concerts, according to Townshend, would more closely reflect Daltrey’s more understated 2024 U.S. tour. The Who performed a few solo gigs at London’s Royal Albert Hall in March to raise money for Teenage Cancer Trust. Peter Frampton was just inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame by Daltrey. Townshend will perform The Seeker, a forthcoming concept album he co-wrote with his wife Rachel Fuller, at the Theatre Royal in London in November. 2019’s “Who” is still the most latest album released under The Who name. Even if the dam might be about to burst, Townshend blames Daltrey for this delay.

I met with Roger for lunch a couple of weeks ago. We’re in good form. We love each other. We’re both getting a bit creaky, but we will definitely do something next year. The last big tours that we’ve done have been with a full orchestra, which was glorious, but we’re now eager to make a noise and make a mess and make mistakes. The album side of it – Roger’s not keen but I would love to do another album, and I may try to bully him on that.
