We might not be getting a full Aerosmith tour, but perhaps a farewell show

After their tragic and brief 2023 farewell tour, frontman Steven Tyler doesn’t want to tour with Aerosmith again, according to guitarist Joe Perry. Tyler’s larynx injury led the rock band to postpone their Peace Out farewell tour after just three gigs. The tour had begun in September 2023. When Tyler’s injury became irreversible, Aerosmith finally called off the tour and declared their retirement from touring in August 2024. After Tyler’s impressive performance at Ozzy Osbourne‘s farewell Back to the Beginning show last month, there were rumors that Aerosmith might make a comeback. Perry stated that a tour is not in the cards, but that is still possible.

There’s been talk about doing a documentary, that might be part of it. I’ve been spending a lot of time with Steven and he just doesn’t want to tour and he can’t tour. It’s tough, I’m not sure I would want to go out and book another 40-city tour. It’s a long way to the top and staying there takes it out of you, especially an Aerosmith tour.

How about a Las Vegas residency?

I’ll never say never, but I wouldn’t bet on it — no pun intended. You really have to want to be out there and we’re all at that point of: How do you want to live? How do you want to spend the next however long you’ve got?

But perhaps, a farwell show could be done…

I would bet that there’s an Aerosmith show left. I think he would. I think it’s just a matter of getting there, you know? I mean, we’re up there, man. And it’s a lot.
