“We don’t have to proof anything with this album” – interview with Andi Deris and Michael Weikath of Helloween

Legendary German metal outfit Helloween will drop their eagerly awaited new album “Giants & Monsters” on August 29th. The record follows their self-titled 2021 chart-topping full-length and represents what the band describes as Helloween’s most diverse and dynamic release yet. Mixed at the iconic Wisseloord Studios in Hilversum, Netherlands (Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Def Leppard etc.), “Giants & Monsters” reinforces the group’s standing at metal’s summit.

“Giants & Monsters” stretches Helloween’s sonic boundaries through the intuition of producers Charlie Bauerfeind and Dennis Ward, coupled with the band’s tireless ambition. The group’s internal chemistry also stands as a major factor behind their ongoing success:

“What constantly drives us is that we’re utterly different from each other. That generates creative energy,” states guitarist Michael Weikath. Kai Hansen adds: “We make an effort not to take ourselves and everything around us too seriously.” Deris encapsulates it: “When it comes down to it, we’re just seven guys who want to create music and enjoy the incomparable force that emerges when we unite. Helloween is far more powerful than the sum of its parts.”
