If you grew up in the early 2000s, you have almost definitely heard the Eminem song “Lose Yourself” at some point or another. That said – have you ever heard that Eminem song covered in the style of Linkin Park? Well, now you can, right below:
If you have been a part of the metal community for long enough, you have also more than likely come across a video or two from that of metal YouTuber Anthony Vincent. Having joined the video platform back in 2014, Vincent has made a name for himself by covering a variety of songs in a great variety of styles. You’ll find Vincent taking classic pop or metal songs and creating videos where he covers said songs in a plethora of different musical styles. Sometimes though he’ll take on a song and cover it in one particular style, much like he has done here in his recent video covering the Eminem song “Lose Yourself”.
“Lose Yourself” is the major single off the 8 Mile soundtrack from Eminem and has become one of the rapper’s biggest hits. In his video covering the Eminem song, Vincent is accompanied by Jonathan Young (who has also been working with Trivium singer Matt Heafy on recent Magic The Gathering soundtracks). Throughout the cover of “Lose Yourself”, Vincent channels two vocal styles that convey strong similarities to that of Linkin Park singer Mike Shinoda, and that of the late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington.
Vincent also did a cover of the Linkin Park song “Numb”, but to the style of Killswitch Engage. You can check out that performance below as well:
