Korn guitarist James “Munky” Shaffer was seen in a studio with mixing engineer Chris Lord-Alge, who has worked with Green Day and My Chemical Romance, and producer Nick Raskulinecz, who was previously involved with Korn on “The Nothing” in 2019, in a now-deleted Instagram photo, as per MetalInjection. The photo had this caption:
What a blast with Nick Raskulinecz and Munkey mixing Korn!! Heavy badass rock!!!
Although the image was first posted to Lord-Alge’s personal Instagram account, it has since been taken down, most likely because, as Brian “Head” Welch stated to Loudwire last week, the band wasn’t really committed to releasing new music.
I really love the fact that it’s taking a long time. I always told management that I wish that we would wait a little bit between albums. We’re just so addicted to the studio that we get in there and we’re putting albums out every two or three years, ever since I rejoined. And so I love that there’s been delays.
We’re a fortunate band, we’ve been around for awhile and we’ve got an extensive catalog with a lot of well-known songs. We’re focusing right now on our live show … It feels like we don’t even need a new album. Everything’s just going so well, but that’s not to say we’re not going to find some time to go in again. I feel like it’s not priority right now.
Since Welch mentioned this record in his Loudwire interview, it’s really impossible to know what they were working on or whether it was something else entirely. In any case, it’s possible that Lord-Alge unintentionally revealed a new Korn record.
