“Wacken was the biggest crowd we ever had” – interview with Heartless Human Harvest

If you fancy some metalcore or deathcore, well then, this band is right for you. We interviewed Marcel and Jonas of Heartless Human Harvest at Wacken Open Air!

So guys, you’re playing Wacken in its 35th anniversary. How does it feel to be on the holy ground?

Marcel Heet: It’s overwhelming, a little bit. It’s probably the biggest crowd we ever had. There are a lot of things you saw today, but the best thing was the energy of the people, actually. That was insane. It was the best gig I ever had, the best show I ever played. Insane.

Jonas Kramer: Yes, for me as well. I can’t really say anything at the moment because it is so overwhelming. It was an amazing show. We were really looking forward to this one because for every one of us it’s a big dream to play this huge festival. Of course, everyone knows it. It was amazing. 

Marcel Heet: A dream coming true. Yes. That’s how you can best describe it. Absolutely.

Since you have both experience in live shows, but also in studio and recording, do you think that the life of an artist is a lonely life?

Jonas Kramer: A lonely life? I would say no. No. Because I personally have a lot of other things I like to do, like sports. I have my own company with coaching, like bodybuilders and stuff like that. I’m doing martial arts a lot, so music is not my only passion. That’s why my life is always busy and I’m always seeing people.

Marcel Heet: For me, it’s also important to have some kind of balance, work-life balance, just like that. So not only the music, but also sports is very important. You’re sharing the music with other guys. For example, even the crowd today. What I love most about this band thing is actually the people, because you get so much energy back. We are all sharing the same passion. It brings people together. That’s what I love about it.

Amazing. And when you’re having fun on stage, we are having fun in the audience, so that’s the best thing ever.

Marcel Heet: Awesome, yes. In front of the door, we were talking about this. I think they felt our energy. That’s why right from the beginning, they were also pretty hyped up.
