Voivod unveil The Nuclear Warrior – Prototype Trailer V2

Voivods realm goes beyond only music, as blabbermouth.net reports. The Prototype Trailer V2 for “Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior,” the first official video game inspired by Voivod’s unique blend of sci-fi, metal, and surrealism, has been released by Chaosmonger Studio in close partnership with the renowned Canadian metal band. “The Nuclear Warrior” has entered full production following a successful Kickstarter campaign that raised 265% of its total budget. With hand-crafted pixel art and an original soundtrack inspired by Voivod’s distinctive sound, the game’s growing world—a harsh, post-apocalyptic realm where mechanical ruins meet cosmic horror—is shown in the new video.

Our goal is to make a game that feels like stepping inside a Voivod album cover. This new trailer captures the atmosphere and energy that define the band’s universe. It’s both a tribute and a continuation of their legacy. – Nicola Piovesan, founder of Chasomonger Studio and director of the game

The band’s members continue to play a crucial role in the process, just like in any Voivod project. Vocalist Denis Bélanger (Snake) provides the protagonist’s voice; bassist Dominic Laroche (Rocky) offers gameplay feedback; drummer Michel Langevin (Away) contributes art direction and visual design; and guitarist Daniel Mongrain (Chewy) supervises the adaptation of Voivod’s music into the game’s retro soundscape. The end product is a singular creative synthesis: an interactive, metal-infused experience that combines storytelling, art, and music into a unified audiovisual vision. “Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior” allows players to take on the role of the Voivod himself, a mutant warrior led by his disembodied consciousness, Nothingface, on a trip through twisted universes inspired by the band’s albums and mythology. It does this by fusing basic run-and-gun gameplay with exploration and mood.

The PC and console versions of “Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior” (Playstation, Nintendo Switch, Xbox) are presently under active development. In anticipation of the game’s 2026 release, fans may track its development on social media, watch the latest video, and add the game to their Steam wishlist.
