Some bands like to keep busy, and honestly we can’t blame them. This is what is currently happening to Voivod, too! The renowned sci-fi metal band is thrilled to announce a number of significant creative projects that are currently in progress, including the creation of their first official video game, the composition of a new concept album, a number of forthcoming live performances around the world, and two in-depth projects honoring the band’s past: a feature documentary and a biography. With the release of “Voivod: The Nuclear Warrior”, the independent developer Chaosmonger Studio is collaborating with Voivod to bring their apocalyptic mythology into the realm of interactive media. Players take on the role of the Voivod, a post-apocalyptic warrior led by his disembodied mind, Nothingface, in this action-adventure game with a vintage feel. He fights through distorted environments, biomechanical mutants, and pieces of his lost consciousness. All current members will contribute creatively to the game, which will have pixel-art graphics, fast-paced gameplay, and a storyline based on the band’s concept albums. Reimagined songs from the band’s current lineup will be featured on the game’s soundtrack, meticulously reworked to replicate the genuine sound of early ’90s 16-bit video games. The end product is a blend of metal and vintage gaming excitement that is both nostalgic and authentic to Voivod‘s sound. The game’s Kickstarter campaign officially launches today, giving fans the opportunity to contribute to the project and receive special goodies. Today also marks the release of the Prototype Gameplay Trailer, which provides the first look at the gameplay of the game. The band’s next studio album may be released in 2026 along with the title.

Since a recent distorted signal was discovered in the multiverse, Voivod is now working on a new full-length album that promises a return to their conceptual storytelling roots! This forthcoming album carries on the band’s tradition of fusing experimental metal, science fiction, and social criticism into a vast musical story. In 2025, Voivod will resume touring with a series of live performances across the globe in addition to their studio work. The band will return to South America with a powerful live performance in Chile. Following the success of their previous orchestral cooperation, they will perform a unique symphonic metal experience in Canada with the Orchestre Symphonique de Québec. Voivod will make appearances on a few headline shows in Europe.

Later this year, two significant releases will delve deeply into Voivod’s past. Music journalist Jeff Wagner’s in-depth biography of Voivod, “Always Moving – The Strange Multiverse of Voïvod,” which will be released this summer, will provide the most thorough explanation of the band’s development, impact, and lasting influence to date. “Voivod: We Are Connected,” a long-awaited documentary by filmmaker Felipe Belalcazar that uses rare footage, interviews, and historical material to chronicle the band’s artistic journey, will be released later this year.
