As previously announced, guitarist Erik Rutan of Cannibal Corpse has withdrawn from the band’s European headline tour due to “catastrophic damage from Hurricane Helene” to his house in St. Petersburg, Florida. On Friday, September 27, Hurricane Helene tore across the Southeast, flooding Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida. Florida’s Tampa Bay region, especially St. Petersburg, was severely affected. The Tampa Bay Times reports that storm surges over six feet hit St. Petersburg, resulting in almost 100 miles of inundated highways. With 140 mph wind gusts and a lot of rain, Hurricane Helene is one of the strongest storms to ever impact the US.
