Philadelphia metalcore crew Varials have dropped a crushing new single, “Where the Light Leaves”, along with a music video. The track also serves as the title song for their next album, which lands on February 27, 2026 through Fearless Records. The video, directed by Midvessel, locks the band inside strobe lit rooms while the track’s anxiety soaked atmosphere keeps rising. It follows September’s “I’ll Find the Dark”, the first song to feature new vocalist Skyler Conder of CELL.
Conder calls “Where the Light Leaves” the key to the record’s central idea. He describes the song as an entry point into a story shaped by doubt, grief and the feeling of being trapped inside your own head. That tension hits hard in the music itself. It already sits alongside recent singles as some of the band’s most aggressive work.
“Where the Light Leaves”, a thirteen song album that moves between heavy, groove driven metalcore and more atmospheric moments. The album was recorded by producer Josh Schroeder (Lorna Shore, King 810). This is also their first full album cycle with Conder after officially bringing him into the lineup last fall.
Formed in 2013, Varials carved their place in the Philadelphia scene with “Pain Again”, “In Darkness” and “Scars for You to Remember”. Now they appear set on making this new chapter their rawest yet.
