Ukrainian extreme metal outfit 1914 has quietly slipped a new track into their ongoing World War I-inspired narrative. The band’s upcoming album, “Viribus Unitis”, is set to release on November 14th through Napalm Records, and already reveals a glimpse of its tone with the ominous track “1916 (The Südtirol Offensive)”.
This new single joins a carefully crafted chronological suite—from “War In (The Beginning of the Fall)” to “War Out (The End?)”—each depicting a specific phase of the Great War. The title “1916 (The Südtirol Offensive)” points to the infamous Austro-Hungarian campaign in South Tyrol, a key moment in the Italian Front during World War I.
This release continues to build on the band’s signature blend of blackened death metal and doom, layered with historical samples and atmospheric weight, furthering their immersive storytelling through music.
