This Friday, January 30, Tom Morello and Rise Against will perform a fundraiser concert called A Concert Of Solidarity & Resistance To Defend Minnesota at Minneapolis, Minnesota’s storied First Avenue, as per MetalInjection. Al Di Meola, a guitar prodigy, Ike Reilly, a singer-songwriter, and a hinted “very special guest” are all part of the unparalleled musical lineup. The show will begin at noon, with doors opening at 10:30 AM. Tickets are now available on axs.com. On January 28, Morello announced the news on Instagram using language as cutting as his trademark riffs.

If it looks like fascism, sounds like fascism, acts like fascism, dresses like fascism, talks like fascism, kills like fascism and lies like fascism, boys & girls it’s f*cking fascism. It’s here, it’s now, it’s in my city, it’s in your city and it must be resisted, protested, defended against, stood up to, exposed, ousted, overthrown and driven out. By you and by me. We are coming to Minneapolis where the people have heroically stood up against ICE, stood up against Trump, stood up against this terrible rising tide of state terror. Where the people have stood up for their neighbors and themselves, for democracy and justice. Ain’t nobody coming to save us except us and it’s now or never.
100% of proceeds go to the families of those murdered by ICE in Minneapolis Renee Good and Alex Pretti
Following two tragic encounters during the recent Minnesota ICE operation, Minneapolis is experiencing severe unrest at the time of the charity event. Earlier this month, 37-year-old Renée Nicole Good was shot and killed by an ICE agent during a January 7 enforcement operation – one of numerous such federal actions in the city. Alex Pretti, a 37-year-old American citizen and ICU nurse, was also shot and killed by federal officials in Minneapolis on January 24. This was the second tragic incident involving federal immigration personnel in a matter of weeks.
Widespread protests and national attention have been triggered by both fatalities, and calls for accountability and modifications to federal immigration enforcement procedures have gone beyond Minnesota. The concert’s organizers have promised to donate 100% of the earnings to the families of Renee Good and Alex Pretti, transforming what could otherwise be a time of collective grief into a time of musical action and unity.
