We’re looking forward to seeing you soon! We’re venturing out to a few new places we haven’t played yet; Culture Room, The Albatross, and The Loft and revisiting our devoted venues, The OCC and The Barn. Going up to Jacksonville and Altanta is taking us out of our ‘comfort zone’ but you know we will still scorch the earth! Looking forward to seeing you out there!
After supporting Iron Maiden during the U.K. leg of the “Killers” tour in 1981 with his former band Trust, McBrain formally joined Iron Maiden in December 1982 for the 1983 “Piece Of Mind” album and tour, taking Clive Burr’s place. Iron Maiden’s early work lacked much of the dexterity and technicality that McBrain contributed. In contrast to Burr, who was frequently praised for his forceful, punk-focused approach, McBrain played with a level of skill and flair that enabled lead composer Harris to steer Maiden in more daring directions. After Harris and Murray, he finally became Maiden’s third-longest-serving member.
The drummer said in a statement that he was “paralysed” down one side of his body and “worried” that his time with the band was over when he first made his stroke public in August 2023. McBrain was diagnosed with stage 1 laryngeal cancer six years ago. He disclosed the diagnosis in a single interview in 2021, but otherwise kept it primarily a secret.
