Californian rock band Thrice have released the second single “Albatross” from their much-anticipated album “Horizons/West,” due October 3rd on Epitaph Records. The track follows earlier release “Gnash” and is now available worldwide via streaming platforms, accompanied by a lyric video crafted by Sean Stout, known for his work with Deafheaven and Scowl.
The visualizer mirrors the song’s intense mood, weaving imagery that reflects the tension and emotion in the music. Vocalist Dustin Kensrue frames the track’s theme around twisted luck and self-made curses, hinting at redemption.
“Horizons/West” acts as a conceptual and stylistic successor to the band’s 2021 release “Horizons/East,” showing off band’s trademark blend of cinematic post-rock textures, intricate rhythms, and raw urgency. The album was produced and engineered at New Grass Studios, with mixing by Scott Evans and mastering by Matthew J. Barnhart—both of whom have previously collaborated with the band.
Thrice will support the album with a fall North American tour, kicking off October 17 in San Diego and wrapping November 23 in Anaheim. Support comes from Modern Color and Downward, with stops across major cities including New York, Toronto, Chicago, and Los Angeles.
Fans of Thrice will find “Albatross” a moody, layered addition to their evolving catalog—adding depth to the broader themes and soundscapes of “Horizons/West.”
