This tour gets a little cleaner: Mexican Coke dropped from lineup with Fentanyl and Asbestos

In what might be one of the most absurdly named tour lineups in hardcore history, Mexican Coke has officially been booted from their run with Fentanyl and Asbestos. Yes, those are real band names. And no, this isn’t a health awareness tour.

The drama unfolded when Fentanyl’s vocalist, Kenneth Turner, took to Twitter to deliver the surprising announcement:

MEXICAN COKE are no longer playing this tour. Pull up for ASBESTOS as direct support.

The tweet, delivered with no further context, immediately sparked a flurry of speculation across social media. As is often the case in the music world, Reddit was quick to fill in the gaps. Enter Reddit user 1994HondaAccord (insane, I know), who claimed to have insider information on why Mexican Coke was ejected from the tour.

According to 1994HondaAccord, the band’s vocalist reportedly got drunk before their set in Salt Lake City, turning what should have been a night of hardcore fury into a night of hardcore confrontation. Allegedly, the frontman’s intoxicated state led to a performance that could be best described as “combative,” and it seems that was the last straw for their tourmates.

Title says it, the vocalist from Mexican Coke was in SLC on their tour with Asbestos and Fentanyl, and the vocalist for Mexican Coke spent the entire show drinking in excess, treating young concert goers poorly, cussed out the audience, and continued to egg on a group of drunk punks in the audience, and then refused to start performing until he had another beer in his hand. After a song and a half of drunken mumbling, people start throwing beer cans and one of the drunk punks came up and started swinging on him on stage. Multiple other people came to aid both sides and it ended with the vocalist having his shirt torn off. Not as fun of a time as I’d hoped. Asbestos kicks ass though!

The weirdness does not stop. Another Reddit user mywar69420 stated that Mexican Coke’s vocalist was being rude during the show.

Missed half the the story. He was calling audience members homos and f*gs, throwing beer cans into people’s faces. He then broke an $80 piece of microphone equipment, and then on top of that proceeded to call someone the N word. People who came up to kick his ass were the people running the venue. What a show haha. Also the rest of the band seemed as bewildered as everyone else there. Talked to Fentanyl and they said he hasn’t been like that at all on tour. Don’t wanna throw the rest of the band under the bus, it was just the singer who decided to throw a drunk temper tantrum.

While the exact details remain murky, one thing’s for sure—this isn’t the first time a tour has experienced its fair share of drama. But in a lineup like this, with Fentanyl and Asbestos still forging ahead, the loss of Mexican Coke has left fans both disappointed and… confused? Who knows if we’ll find out who (or what) will step in to fill the soda-sized void in the tour. For now, Fentanyl and Asbestos are still rocking stages—and hopefully, keeping things a little less combustible.
