The Word Alive is back with a brand-new single titled “Eyes Above”, now available on all major streaming platforms. The track isn’t just a standalone release — it also lends its name to the band’s upcoming summer trek, The Eyes Above Tour, which kicks off at the end of July and runs through mid-August across the US. Supporting acts on the tour include TX2 and Unwell.
“Eyes Above” marks the band’s first new material since their 2023 album “Hard Reset”, which was released in August via Thriller Records. That record signaled the beginning of a new era for the band, introducing guitarist Jose DelRio and drummer Daniel Nelson, while also serving as the swan song for founding member Zack Hansen.
The band’s lineup has seen more changes since then. In 2024, drummer Daniel Nelson stepped down, with Devin Attard stepping in to take over behind the kit.
The Word Alive was formed back in 2008 in Phoenix, Arizona. Originally fronted by Craig Mabbitt, the band soon brought in Tyler “Telle” Smith as lead vocalist — a role he’s held ever since. They first caught attention with their debut EP “Empire” in 2009, and solidified their place in the metalcore scene with their breakout full-length “Deceiver” in 2010.
