A brand-new joint track and music video called “Love To Be Loved” by award-winning regional Mexican sensation Carín León and the rock sister-trio The Warning from Monterrey, Mexico, are out today via Lava/Republic Records, just in time for Valentine’s Day, as per Blabbermouth. Notably, The Warning Co-wrote the song with Neil Ormandy, Rob Grimaldi, Boy Matthews, Anton DeLost, and vocal prodigy Teddy Swims. To make the song come to life, the band collaborated with producers Grimaldi and DeLost. Additionally, it is Carín’s first collaborative release that is sung fully in English, breaking the norm.
We are so excited about this song. As a rock band, this is something completely different for us and a chance to explore new sounds. Originally co-written with Teddy Swims, the song naturally blends country, rock, and pop in a way that felt fresh and inspiring from the start. Blending musical worlds is always exciting, and working with our fellow Mexican artist Carín León made the experience even more special. It’s a collaboration that pushed us creatively and shows a new side of The Warning. – The Warning
By discovering a common ground between these two opposing energies, “Love To Be Loved” breaks down barriers between genres. León establishes the mood of the song with a soulful and emotionally intense stanza. Between The Warning’s heavy pace and the crunch of distorted power chords, his sad speech floats uncomfortably. Guitarist and singer Dany Villarreal leads the chantable chorus, supported by a Richter scale-worthy rhythm and strong riffs.
I’m truly happy and excited about this collaboration with these amazing artists, The Warning, a band I deeply admire that reaffirms to me that Mexican music and Mexican rock are far from dead — they’re more present and stronger than ever. I’m also really grateful to collaborate alongside artists with such important projects for Mexican music and culture, and to be able to release this great song together.
