Take five beautiful, distinct yet perfectly complementary voices, a top-tier band, and you have Venus 5. They are Karmen Klinc
Jelena Milovanovic, Erina Seitllari, and two special friends: my Angel of Hell, Terese Tezzi Persson from Hell in the Club, and my beautiful Alien, Herma Sick from Sick N’ Beautiful.
The band features Gabriele Robotti on guitar, Antonio Agate on keyboards, and two other great friends, Andy Buratto on bass and Marco Lazzarini on drums—both also members of Hell in the Club and Secret Sphere. The album marks a significant shift in the band’s sound, moving from the pop metal of their debut to the modern metal style of Amaranthe and Within Temptation in recent years.
It is no coincidence that Jake E., Amaranthe’s lead singer from the band’s inception through 2016, contributed to the songwriting, with production once again entrusted to Aldo Lonobile, former producer of Secret Sphere. Given these premises, I had high expectations for this album, and I was not disappointed…
“March Of The Venus 5” opens with the title track and “Like a Witch,” featuring catchy choruses and Hell in the Club-style hard rock that evoke the band’s old sound. “Far Away” is a captivating ballad that has stayed with me, but it’s with “Set Me Free” that the new sound really emerges; songs like ‘Satellite’ and “Invincible” would fit perfectly on an Amaranthe album.
If, like me, you love female-fronted metal, this album is absolutely for you…. Five great voices expertly blended and a top-notch band behind them weaving a truly impressive soundscape for yet another great album released by Frontiers Records, a label founded in 1996 and for years now among the most famous on the international metal scene. Its roster includes bands of the caliber of Journey, Winger, Anette Olzon, and many others… in short, a guarantee of absolute quality.
My favorite tracks, besides “Far Away,” are “Invincible,” “Surrender,” and “Take It from the Start,” but all 11 tracks are worth noting. Erina described this album as a storm of fire and velvet impossible to tame; how could one disagree! Great work, girls—I can’t wait to see you on stage!!!!
