Graham Oliver’s Army, the band led by Graham Oliver, a founding guitarist of the renowned British band Saxon, will perform in collaboration with Paul Quinn, a former bandmate from Saxon, at a special concert on December 29 at the Birdwell venue in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, as per blabbermouth.net. T

he ensemble, formed by Oliver, is characterized as “a thunderous celebration of the music that defined an era — and continues to inspire generations of rock and metal enthusiasts worldwide.” In 2025, the anniversary of Saxon’s emergence on the music scene will mark 45 years, highlighting their role in pioneering the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and significantly shaping the heavy music landscape.

Central to that legacy is the seminal 1980 album “Wheels Of Steel,” which features enduring anthems such as “747 (Strangers In The Night),” “Motorcycle Man,” “Strong Arm Of The Law,” and the eponymous track. These compositions served as the foundation of Saxon’s ascent to global prominence and became anthems for metal fans worldwide. With Graham Oliver’s Army, that potent energy is revived on stage, embodying loudness, pride, and fervor. The band comprises experienced musicians and is led by Oliver’s distinctive guitar style, capturing the authentic Saxon sound with passion, accuracy, and vigor.

Whether an avid long-term supporter or a newcomer exploring the roots of metal, Graham Oliver’s Army offers a live tribute to the legacy, celebrating 45 years of British heavy metal history with intensity.

I will be joining forces with Paul Quinn on 29th of December where it all began in November 1975 to celebrate 50 years and will be featuring songs of the platinum album ‘Wheels Of Steel’. I am diagnosed with Parkinson’s [disease] so [this will] possibly [be] the last time locally we perform together. Remembering all we did together over the years, the highs and lows. – Graham Oliver
