The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza unveil summer UK shows

The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza has extended its inaugural tour to the United Kingdom, as per theprp. The reformed mathcore group, which just released their first single in more than 13 years, has three international dates scheduled for August.

In 2004, The Tony Danza Tapdance Extravaganza was established. They named their band after actor Tony Danza; the amusing title is sometimes misconstrued because older concertgoers have gone to events hoping to meet Danza in person. After self-releasing their debut album, the group signed with Corrosive Recordings in 2005. The band’s rehearsal area burnt down in the summer of 2006, costing the members roughly $15,000 (or $23,956 in 2025) in damages and lost equipment. “Danza II: Electric Boogaloo” was their second album, which was released on Black Market Activities in 2007. The album’s title parodies both the Danzig album “Danzig II: Lucifuge” and the Breakin’ 2: Electric Boogaloo movie from the 1980s.

Short, funny sketches that make fun of their upbringing are scattered between the songs on the album. After performing in Lewisville, Texas, in March 2008, the band’s tour van broke down. Brad Thomson, a former member, started Midgets with Machetes, a record label that Uprising Records distributes. Layne Meylain and Mike Butler announced their amicable departure from the band on September 24, 2009. Danza III: A Series of Unfortunate Events, the band’s upcoming album, was formally revealed at the same time. The album’s lyrical themes—personal, social, political, and worldwide “unfortunate events”—are centred around the three musical themes of ambient, groove-based, and technical music. Steve Blackmon and Jeremiah Scott recorded it in November 2009.
