The Smashing Pumpkins announce 30th anniversary edition of “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness”

Author Benedetta Baldin - 2.10.2025

The Smashing Pumpkins‘ third studio album, “Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness,” will be released on UMe on November 21st in a super deluxe 30th anniversary version. As reported by theprp, the original track listing and more than 80 minutes of never-before-heard live footage from the band’s 1996 tour will be included in this joyous reissue of that diamond-certified double album. Below is the audio of a live performance of “Geek U.S.A.” from that collection on January 30, 1996. A special tarot card set, seven lithographs, and a hardbound book with new liner notes from Billy Corgan, the singer/guitarist, are also included. The included double album and live material are distributed across six LPs, and the full set is kept in a velvet-wrapped slipcase. Madamezuzus.com is currently accepting pre-orders for the set, which will also be available digitally and in a 4-CD version.

Unearthing these live recordings from the original lineup’s true, last large-scale tour was a labour of love, and for me certainly a bittersweet as once we blew apart in 1996, we were never quite the same: be it emotionally, or spiritually. Thankfully, I can say this as the band is now enjoying our greatest public success since that time, and one can hear in these tapes the raw power that such nascent faith afforded us, then, and the will and wisdom to persevere that followed.
