It was this summer, when the first two singles “Rising High” and “Break The Silence” were released, that I was waiting to hear the sixth album by the former child prodigy, now one of the most beloved voices on the metal scene, Jennifer Haben and her band Beyond The Black.
The band made their debut in 2015 with” Songs Of Love and Death”, which immediately brought them to the attention of the general public. Since then, it has been a continuous and well-deserved rise to fame, and with this album, they confirm the great compositional quality that sets them apart. For many, they are a symphonic band, for others, epic, for me, however, they are simply Beyond The Black, a band I discovered in 2020 and which immediately won me over with their fresh, powerful sound and sublime vocals.
“Break The Silence” is scheduled for release on January 9th on Nuclear Blast Records and delivers a mature album in pure BTB style, exploring profound themes such as inner strength, resilience and the urgency to reconnect in such a divided and complex world, calling on fans to be part of this new chapter.
The album consists of ten tracks and features collaborations with Asami from Lovebites on “Can You Hear Me“, the latest single released on 24th October, The Mystery of the Bulgarian Voices on one of my favourite tracks, “Let There Be Rain“, and Lord Of The Lost on “The Art Of Being“, the third single released on 12th September.
The beautiful “Ravens“, dedicated to the fans, the powerful “The Flood“, and the splendid “Hologram“, in pure BTB style, leave the closing to the solemn “Weltschmerz“. Ultimately, Break The Silence is, in my opinion, yet another confirmation of the greatness of this band that I love and that I have been lucky enough to photograph on several occasions at truly exciting concerts…
My advice? The tour is about to start, don’t miss the chance to see their show! I am more than certain that at the end of the show you will all be queuing up at the merch stand to buy “Break The Silence” and perhaps the entire discography of this great band.
