The Mars Volta frontman responds harshly to Emily Armstrong’s affiliation with Scientology

This weekend, Linkin Park‘s biggest controversy centers on Emily Armstrong, the group’s new vocalist. Emily has faced intense criticism online due to her previous affiliations with the Scientology religion and her seeming support of Danny Masterson, a rapist who was found guilty and given a 30-year to life sentence last year. Following a harsh rejoinder from At The Drive In/The Mars Volta singer Cedric Bixler-Zavala and his spouse Chrissie Carnell-Bixler, Armstrong issued a statement of her own. She admitted that she attended an early hearing as an observer and was asked to stand by a friend during a court appearance a few years ago, but she now recognizes that she misjudged Masterson, who was found guilty. Bixler-Zavala and Carnell-Bixler reacted, stating that they were obviously unsatisfied with Armstrong’s claim and pointing out that she was affiliated with Scientology and that she neglected to bring up the religion in her response.
