The Halo Effect put their own twist on Kent’s “If You Were Here”

Swedish melodic death metal band The Halo Effect has released their take on the 1997 Kent track “If You Were Here,” originally titled “Om du var här” on the album “Isola.” The cover arrives alongside their previous version of Danzig’s “How the Gods Kill,” both of which will appear on an upcoming cover EP. The latest release comes with a visualizer directed by Linda Florin.

Kent, a notable Swedish rock band, originally had a long and influential career before disbanding in 2016 after 26 years. The Halo Effect’s cover brings a darker, atmospheric spin to the song, bridging Sweden’s rock and metal legacies. The band is also gearing up for a cover EP release and a major 2026 European tour supporting Heaven Shall Burn with The Black Dahlia Murder and Frozen Soul.
