Isa Roddy, the original vocalist for the band Dogma, has released a statement as an open letter to her fans about the time in the band.
In the past few weeks, I’ve received numerous messages from fans and inquiries from media outlets asking about my connection with the band Dogma. Out of respect for those who follow my work, I feel this is the right moment to speak clearly and responsibly. Some already knew, but I was the first vocalist of the project and actively contributed to shaping its early artistic identity. I provided vocal lines, creative ideas, and aesthetic elements that helped define the character Lilith I, recognized by the audience. I believed in the project’s potential and invested my time, dedication, and personal financial resources, without ever receiving any return.
Despite my commitment over two and a half years, certain circumstances did not align with my career expectations. As with many artistic projects, the environment and conditions eventually diverged from my professional vision. For that reason, I decided to step away in mid-2022. When contractual matters arose, I was informed that the only available document was a session musician agreement, meant solely for live performances. These performances never happened with me. In other words, despite my creative, vocal, and conceptual contributions, I received no compensation, and my audiovisual recordings were later used across multiple materials without my explicit authorization.
Even after my departure in 2022, portions of my voice have continued, and still continue, to appear in live performances and released materials, including
Additionally, the mask representing the character continues to be sold based on the shape of my face, which I designed during my direct involvement in developing the project’s visual identity.
I also recorded full vocals for an EP that was never officially released but is still publicly accessible online. The videos for My First Peak and Forbidden Zone containing my full vocal and visual performance, were posted without my authorization, with another voice overlaid in the released versions. For those who appreciate these vocals, I can say confidently: they belong to me. They are part of my identity and remain with me. That same strength, technique, and versatility will now be fully present in my own project, created with artistic freedom and professional responsibility.
Moving to Germany in 2021 was a turning point. I connected with experienced professionals in the music and creative industry, gained a deeper understanding of my rights, learned about contracts, and recognized the importance of protecting my identity and voice as an artist. This growth confirmed that leaving the project was necessary. Everything built during Lilith’s early phase reflects my dedication, study, and creative expression. But beyond any character, I am today an artist who wants to show my own face, my own voice, and my own truth, without masks or anonymity.
I am entering a new chapter in my career: more intense and fully aligned with my vision. I want you to be part of this journey with me! Very soon, you’ll discover everything I’ve been creating with dedication and authenticity, and I promise, it will be worth following closely.
Keep it heavy,
ISA RODDY
