With her brand-new song, “#N0rth4evr,” North West, the 12-year-old daughter of media icon Kim Kardashian and disgraced rap artist Kanye West, has ventured into nu metal/kawaii metal terrain, as per theprp. The song is from North West‘s recently released first EP, “N0rth4evr,” which also features her exploring emo rap, hyperpop, trap metal, and other genres.
This six-song appearance has a vintage track listing with songs like “H0w Should! f331,” “Th!s tim3,” and “D!e.” The EP’s cover artwork understandably has a conventional metal logo feel, given the widespread influence of metal’s look on different types of more mainstream culture. The music video for the EP’s title track, which was co-directed by Ty Akimoto and Mack Ishida, may be the best example of this debut artist’s heavier side.
North West‘s approaching adolescence seems to be diverting her from her earlier pop and rap endeavours in favour of considerably heavier output, much like Willow Smith, the daughter of another well-known rapper/actor. It’s unclear if this is a fleeting interest.
Along with her mother, West made multiple appearances on Keeping Up with the Kardashians and starred in the music video for her father’s 2014 single “Only One”. In 2023, West made her feature film debut as a young actress in “Paw Patrol: The Mighty Movie”, where she voiced Mini. She sang “I Just Can’t Wait to Be King” during The Lion King 30th Anniversary – A Live-to-Film Concert Event at the Hollywood Bowl in 2024. She made her music debut on ¥$‘s single “Talking / Once Again” in February of that year. She also performed in Japanese on FKA Twigs‘s “Childlike Things” and the duo’s 2024 single “Bomb” with her sister Chicago.
She appeared in the song “Lonely Roads Still Go to Sunshine” that Kanye posted on Twitter in March 2025. It included Jasmine Williams, King Combs, and Sean Combs, the latter’s father.
