The changes and surprises of Metallica’s setlist at the Sphere continue

Metallica’s residency at the Las Vegas Sphere has been highly active since its inception earlier this month, with nearly every concert featuring at least one live debut. During their sixth performance at the venue on October 17, the band premiered the track “Harvester of Sorrow” from their 1988 album …And Justice for All. According to setlist.fm and the band’s official website, “Harvester of Sorrow” was the sixth song performed that evening, positioned between “72 Seasons” and “The Day That Never Comes.” Although there was no formal introduction, frontman James Hetfield concluded the performance with a specific remark.

From …And Justice for All. ‘Harvester of Sorrow’ for you, Las Vegas. Thank you.

Fans on Reddit have expressed criticism regarding the visual elements used during the performance of the song. One user commented that the visual team could have improved the presentation for “Harvester,” noting that displaying a man and a goose on the large screen throughout the song was an inefficient use of the space.

Another user observed that James appeared to be confused by the goose during the show, suggesting that the visual setup was confusing or misleading. A further comment implied that the staging created an impression that the man might be about to slaughter the goose, highlighting the perceived absurdity of the scene. Additionally, “Harvester of Sorrow” was not the only track from Metallica’s fourth studio album to receive notable attention. The band began their set with “Blackened” and concluded the main set with “One,” which served as the penultimate piece of the evening.
